About Us

BTI was founded in 1946 by Ben Taylor, a military veteran, who bought Carter Oil Company. He then expanded his services to gas stations, farm chemicals, fuel and propane delivery. His son, Greg, joined the business, and together they provided outstanding customer service to the communities of Shelby, Cut Bank and Valier. Most importantly to Ben and Greg were their dedicated employees many of whom worked at BTI for decades.

BTI is now a division of CityServiceValcon, a fuel distributing company located in Kalispell, Montana. CityServiceValcon was founded in 1932 and has a similar vision to BTI of growing and expanding their business through honesty and integrity, providing a great environment for employees, and giving back to their communities.

Our Courageous Culture

Our Vision

To be the most respected fuel marketer and energy products distributor in our region, recognized for our commitment to safety, quality, and service to our people, our customers, and our community.

Our Mission

To create value and provide energy solutions to our customers by delivering quality products, strong brand partnerships, and a relentless commitment to service excellence.

We value a courageous culture where we can:

Think Forward.

We expect the unexpected, always prepared to responsibly adapt to change.

Act Differently.

We rebel against complacency and respectfully hold one another accountable to aim higher than the status quo, pursuing excellence in our systems and our team.

Interact Beyond Ourselves.

We are responsible for each person going home safely to their families. See something; say something, do something, even when it's hard- not only for yourself but for every member of the team.

Serving our community.

BTI is proud to serve our local communities and has supported community events and endeavors, especially those involving local youth. Over the years, countless donations have been given to the 4-H programs, schools and special causes in Toole, Pondera, Glacier and Liberty Counties.

We have employees who volunteer regularly and the work we do in the community is perhaps our greatest asset.

We appreciate all those we serve. Without all of you, our friends, our family, and our neighbors, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
